In 2019, the V&A, Punchdrunk and The Workers developed an experience for teenagers to bring the work of Charles Dickens to life.
An AHRC funded research and development project, Immersive Dickens blended museum curation, theatre and technology to encourage young people to engage with an original manuscript in a new way.
Secondary school students from four schools supported the development of the experience: as test audiences, contributing to the design and prototyping the project.
The resulting experience mixed performer interaction with design and an augmented reality soundscape to encourage students to consider the contemporary significance of Charles Dickens.
