Job Description
Punchdrunk Enrichment is looking for two performers to take part in a new immersive show for children aged 7–11 that celebrates the power of storytelling as a driver for change. This project includes both a schools offer and public performances and is rooted in collaboration, community, and creating imaginative work for young audiences.
The roles we are casting for are:
- Character A: playing age 45–60. Female identifying / Non-binary.
A guardian of the community. A believer in the power of tradition, ritual and community. - Character B: playing age 30–35. Male identifying / Non-binary.
The child of the community – technically an adult, but not yet grown up. They put their foot in it but always find a way out.
Candidates will have experience of creating, facilitating or performing theatre work for young audiences.
Punchdrunk Enrichment is committed to ensuring that the production is representative of the community of our local area. 64% of residents in Brent identify as Black, Asian or from the global majority including mixed heritage individuals. In order to develop a production and team which connects meaningfully with local audiences, this opportunity is solely open to candidates from Black, Asian and global majority backgrounds, including SWANA, Hispanic, Indigenous, Latinx, and Mixed-Race backgrounds.
Please note, applicants must be available to audition on Monday 9th June and Thursday 12th June at Punchdrunk Enrichment Stores in Wembley Park.
Performance periods:
We are recruiting two casts. One cast will be involved in both performance periods (schools project and public performances) and one cast will only be required for the later period (public performances).
- Schools Project & Public Performances Cast:
- Wednesday 23rd July – Sunday 27th July
- Monday 11th August – Friday 24th October (various dates)
- Monday 1st December – Sunday 4th January (excluding Bank Holidays)
- Public Performances Only Cast:
- Monday 11th August
- Monday 24th November – Sunday 4th January (excluding Bank Holidays)
The schools project includes filmed elements, workshop delivery, and an immersive performance for schools. The public performances will be immersive and attended by both family audiences and school groups.
Shortlisted performers will be invited to share any access needs in advance of auditions so appropriate arrangements can be made.
