About Founder to Future Challenge

One epic adventure to fund the next generation of creative futures.

This October, Peter Higgin — outgoing Artistic Director and founder of Punchdrunk Enrichment — will run 100 miles in just three days, from the Isle of Wight to Wembley, in a remarkable effort to raise £25,000 for the charity.

Peter has spent his career championing the power of creativity to transform young lives. Not only as the founder of Punchdrunk Enrichment, but also as a school governor, youth football coach and mentor to young creatives. As he steps away from his role at Punchdrunk Enrichment after 17 years, this challenge is his parting gift to safeguard the future of the organisation.

Why now?

We believe that every child deserves access to imagination, creativity and joy. In a cultural climate marked by economic pressure, cuts to arts education and access to creative opportunities, charities like Punchdrunk Enrichment are vital.

Our immersive projects put people at the heart of an unforgettable journey. Since 2009 we have impacted the lives of more than 200,000 participants via our work for schools, families and in community settings. Our approach to world-making gives a rich sense of joy and wonder to the communities we serve.

In 2024 alone, we worked with 64 schools, delivering immersive learning projects across the UK, and welcomed more than 3,700 children and families into our venue in Wembley.

Peter is embarking on this epic trek to celebrate the impact of Punchdrunk Enrichment’s work so far, and your donation will help ensure that it can continue after he leaves the organisation.

Where will the money go?

As a registered charity, Punchdrunk Enrichment relies on donations to help us reach more children and families, particularly those with limited access to arts and cultural experiences. Funds raised through the Founder to Future Challenge will support our core work: keeping ticket prices affordable, offering schools highly subsidised creative learning projects, and developing bold, imaginative experiences that place children at the heart of the story.

As part of this campaign, we’ll also be sharing 20% of the funds with four youth-focused organisations that mean a great deal to Peter and reflect our values of creativity, care and community. These include:

  • Daniel’s Den (Brent) – a parent and toddler charity with a mission to encourage and enrich family life in order to build stronger communities.
  • Ventnor Exchange CIC (Isle of Wight) – a not for profit social enterprise and cultural hub developing young creative talent, where Peter is the Chair.
  • The Bay CE School (Isle of Wight) – a state secondary school where Peter is the Chair of Governors.
  • Ventnor Youth Football Club (Isle of Wight) – a grassroots club supporting where Peter coaches football.

These organisations are all making a difference in the lives of young people in Brent and on the Isle of Wight — two places that are deeply important to our story, and to Peter himself.

The funds raised will help ensure we can continue creating transformational work for and with young people, and deepen our impact where it’s needed most. We estimate that between 1,500 and 2,500 children will directly benefit from this campaign.
